2 – وجود ملکه
هنگام خرید علاوه بر قوی بودن جمعیت باید به این موضوع هم حتماً توجه شود که ملکه هم داشته باشد . در روزهای زمستانی کنترل ملکه در صورت ضرورت در یک روز آفتابی کمی بعد از ظهر در اغلب نقاط کشور می توان انجام داد فقط باید با احتیاط درب کندو را باز نمود و بعد از کنترل به همان حالت اولیه گذاشت تا عایق بندی که زنبور ها برای زمستان گذرانی در اطراف درب کندو انجام داده اند خراب نشود . جمعیت بی ملکه آنهم در دی ماه و بهمن ماه هیچ ارزشی به جز قیمت چوب کندو ندارد . چون جمعیت در این وقت سال نمی تواند ملکه تولید نموده و خود را نجات دهد .یکی از دلایل وجود ملکه آرام نشستن زنبور ها روی شان ها می باشد .گاهی حمله و نیش زدنشان بی ملکه بودنشان را نشان می دهد .
